ANNUAL PICNIC.

BACKWARD CHILDREN. The animal picnic organised by Mr. and Mrs. .T. AY. ITollis for the children of the Institute for the Care of Backward Children, was held in ideal weather at Titirangi. The outing was made possible by the generosity of a group of Rotarians, three members of Rotarv Messrs. 11. Dearsly, W. Eccles and s! Till, attending the picnic. The children and their parents left the school in buses and cars at 10 o'clock and travelled to Titirangi Beach. The day was spent in sports and games under the. direction of Miss M. Lang and her staff, Miss .T. Higgins, Mrs. HarrisonEee and Mrs. Robinson. Miss B. Carnachan, president of the institute, thanked Mr. and Mrs. Hollis and the members of Rotarv for the pleasure they had given the children. Members of the ladies' committee assisting were: Mesdames S. K. Kennings, H. E. Dowding, .T. G. Hopkins. Misses E. Goldsworthy, M. Muir and F. Waddingliam.
