MT. EDEN MAYORALTY TWO MORE NOMINATIONS. After a meeting of supporters last night, it was announced that Mr. A. Clivo Johns would eontest the Mount Eden mayoralty. The Hon. B. Martin, M.L.C., i& to represent the Labour interest in the same content, making a total of three candidates, as the present Mayor, Mr. K. J. Mills, is seeking re-election, according to a recent announcement by the Mount Eden Ratepayers' Association. The statement was made at the meeting last night that of the seven members of the present council who are seeking re-election. six would support. Mr. Johns. who has been a member of the council for the past six years, and chairman of the finance committee sincc 1938. Mr. Martin, who has recently become a resident of Mount Eden, was a member of tho Auckland City Council from 19.V> to 193 K. He was also deputy-Mayor in that period. Making a strong bid for representation on the Mount Eden Borough Council, although all its candidates were defeated in the 19.'!S election. Labour is putting forward ten nominations for the 12 seats. They are: — Mrs. K. Snookes, Messrs. J. \\ . Atkinson. A. lilake, (!. 'J'. Chambers. J. Gatenby. I). .1. Payne. C. 11. lbthinson, ■T. \V. Stead. 1.. Short and J. C). Smith. Mount Albert Candidates. Eight candidates are lieing put forward by l.alwiur in four of the five wards which provide the Mount Alliert Borough Council. They arc: —A Ward: Messrs. AT. C. Conrad and fl. ,T. Pickens.: 1$ Ward: Messrs. 1!. .T. Wilson and 1). M<-Callum. C Ward: Messrs. <>. Mcßrine and T. Ir\ inc. 1) Ward: Me*=srs. A. Ritchie and 11. L. Kayes.
