Pre- i liminaries to the establishment of a ' defensive position were carried out in the neighbourhood of Westlield, the closest attention being paid to detail, particularly with messages and reports' and the use of the signals platoon. s ! During the week-end office?* aIW ! ' N.C.O.'s of the Ist Battalion. Auckland Regiment, carried out a course of instruction at Narrpw Neck. The 2nd Battery, Ist Field Regiment, N.Z.A., ; j held field manoeuvres east of Auckland. I The 21st Light Aid Detachment aeeom- i panied the battery, which bivouacked on I Saturday night. *
