TROTTING.

AT INVERCARGILL. WIN FOR PLEASANT GUT. In a close finish in the Southland Handicap at the Invercargill Trotting Club"e meeting on Saturday the favourite, Pleasant Guy, driven by R. Townley, beat Crown Peak by a nose. April Direct was a fair third. The winner was handicapped at 4.45 and recorded 4.31 3-5. Pleasant Guy is by Adioo Guy—Pleasant Drive, and is an aged mare. She had one previous success this season. The fast sprint, the Au Revoir Handicap, was won by Worthy Croee, second favourite on the win machine and favourite for a place. At his previous start Worthy Cross was a winner and apparently he is a sprinter of no mean order. He Vμ followed home by Crown Peak, who had, earlier in the afternoon, been runner-up in the Southland Handicap.
