ESSENTIAL GOODS.
NEW CONCESSION DENIED. Reference to imports Into Xew Zealand was made this morning by the secretary of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, Dr. K. P. Xeale. who said that ii recent reference to the needs of importers had conveyed tii-e impression that the .Minister had conceded another point.
Dr. Xeale said that tin- otlicial attitude had been rig-id and unbending in declining to make any allowance for waroccasioned delays to goods arriving in Xew Zealand, even when the delay had been due to the Government itself.* The latest communication of the Minister to the Associated Chamlwrs of Commerce had announced no new concessions beyond that announced in t he third week of November last, and the Minister's letter differed in no respect from previous letters on the same subject, except that he somewhat amplified statements, with regard to special applications in connection wi'ii essential good*.
