CRASH OVER BANK.
PASSENGER KILLED. CAR'S 45-FOOT DROP. (0.C.) WAIHI, this clay. When a moter car capsized down a 4oft bank beside the Waihi Beach Road about 6 -jo'clock last evening, a passenger was killed. He was.:— Mr. Lawrence John Faragher, aged 24. single, factory hand, of Wahaj loa. Matamata. The driver of the car. Mr. (Jeorge Percival Orr, aged 22, single, lorry driver, of Walton, suffered fractured ribs, and internal injuries, and his condition last night was fairly serious.
The vehicle was travelling towards: Waihi Beach, where both men intended i to spend a holiday, and, when it failed; to negotiate a sharp bend, capsized over] the bank into a rocky gully. Hoth the occupants were thrown clear and Mr. Faragher was killed outright. The brother of the driver. Mr. M. •'•' Orr, was following behind in another car at the time, and he witnessed the I accident. Noticing that the nearside front tyi'e of the leading car was flat.! as it approached the curve, lie sounded] his horn but saw the car somersault down the bank. ! ' i'ter receiving' first aid treatment, tl.u injured man was taken to hospital. The scene of the is recognised as a danger spot, and a warning notice and red flag are erected on the approach to the corner.
