WOMAN GOLFER DOWN FROM 19 TO 5 IN ONE SEASON.

Women golfers in New South Wales have no regrets at the passing of 1940. It has been a difficult year of re-ad-juetments, but they've seen it through and are sufficiently optimistic to welcome the New Year in, says a Sydney writer.

The outstanding players of the. year have been Miss Ma e Corry and Miss Marie Clemengcr. They have kept the standard of play as high as in previous yeare, and set an example, for others to follow. Miss Corry is likely to maintain the pace she has set in low scoring. She has mastered the "little approach to the tl&g," and in so doing joins the happy but small field of real champions. Wise Clemenger passed out of junior golf with her 19th birthday. She Lβ by far the most improved golfer of the year. She began it on a handicap of 19 and finished on five. Miss Clemenger begins a Univereity course in March and. may not have much time for golf in 1941. Talking of University—congratulations are due to Miss Barbara Crago for an excellent paee. Miss Crago «, without exception, the finest golfer this State has ever produced, and her return to the game cannot be too soon.
