IX pushing forward the interests of swim 1 ming and life-saving in Auckland, Miss Eva TiUley does a man'-s work. It is years since Miss Tilsley was first introduced to swimming as a memlx-r of the Waitcmata Amateur Swimming and Life-saving Club. and. in addition to giving her first loyalties to her club, she has energetically performed duties in a broader sphere. Her service ha« by no means been restricted to such feminine work as assisting at social functions. She has played a big part in administration. A member of the executive of the Auckland branch of the Royal Life-saving Society. *hc has for a long period been the society"- <lele gate to the Auckland Primary Schools" Swimming and Life-saving Association. She is a member of the Waitomata girls" lifc-savinj; team and has represented it on the Surf Lif<^ saving Association (Auckland). On a number of occasions she lias been chaperon of swimming teams, the most important tribute to her ability in this respect bcin<; her appointment by the Xew Zealand .Swimming Council to chaperon the Aucklanders Kathleen Grey and Jean Finlavson on their educational tour of the South Island in 1335. She al«o ack>m named the Australian Olympic champions Frances Bult and Clare Dennis on their North Island tour at the invitation of the Waitemata Club in the 1933-34 season. !Not only for length of service, but aiso for experience and youth she deserves similar appointments in the future. Miss Tilsley has frequcmlv been noticed in Queen Street lately. >el!ing tickets in the Patriotir Srwrt^ Committees art unions for the fighting force*. This is typical of her unfailing reliability and eagerness U. assist sport, and at the same lime to do something for the country's wrnse.
