STAKES REDUCED. MELBOURNE, Jan. 4. The Victoria Racing Club has reduced the prize-money for the Newmarket Handicap from £3000 to £2500. The total prize-money for the four days of the autumn meeting will be £1000 less than l.ifit year. The Fleminjrton Centenary Cur. worth £'2000. has been replaced by the Flomington Handicap of £1000. The distance of the Hopeful Stakes will be five furlongs and a half, instead of five furlongs. The distance of the King's Plate haw been increased ftv>m one mile and a half to one mile and I luce-quarters.
