A very pleasant gathering took place at Newmarket R.S.A. Clubrooms, when representatives of all the Easteri Suburbs clubs were present, as was alSt Mr. R. Newport, the deputy-Mayor, t< make the presentation of the Goodwil Shield and Tankard, won by Xewmartel Diggers in the inter-club tournament lasi winter. Before the presentation tool place nine teams played in a rinks good will tournament and excellent bowlinj was witnessed. Mr. Davenport mad< reference to the good comradeship h< had always witnessed at such function: among the Diggers. The club president, Mr. C. E. White suitably replied and in conclusioi stressed the necessity of all ex-service men joining the new Home Guard. Ai excellent supper was provided and Mr J. C. Trebilcock (Ellerslie Club) pre sented each member of the winning fou: in the evening's tournament with a casl prize.
