CHILDREN'S CAMPS.

IRESTRICTED THIS YEAR

SUMMER HEALTH TREATMENT

To receive health camp treatment under a programme, curtailed because of the' war, 220 children, classed physically as C 3, will be accommodated during the next few weeks in health camps arranged by the Auckland Central Council of the Xew Zealand Health Camp Federation. Of £he number, 120 will Dβ country children from various parts of the province, who will be in camp at Port Waika'.o from January 14 to 28, and 100 will be from the AuckUod metropolitan area, who will be taken to. Campbell's Bay.

The organising secretary of tb* council, Mrs. B. J. McKendrick, stated to-day that half tbe children for the Port Waikato camp would be from North Auckland, including 10 from Dargaville, 30 would be from Thames, and, 10 each from the Paeroa, Waihi and Franklin districts. They would travel to Tuakau by train and would he taken the remainder of the distance by buses. With ages ranging from seven to 14 iyears, they had been examined and lelassified by' officer*; of the Health Department, and were definitely in need of health camp attention, where they would be under the care of experienced nurses. The children from the city, wlio would receive treatment at Campbell's Bay, -were classified in two groups, stated Mrs. McKendrir-k. Fifty boys would be in camp from January's to 22 and 50 girls during the succeeding fortnight.

Owing to thp ronversion of tlic accommodation at Motuihi for defence purposes the health camp program!:ie ha* had to be greatly modified this year. In previous years about 120u ciiildreu were admitted to the cazups.
