HOWARD AUTO LOSS. A loss of £16.325 on trading operations of Howard Auto-Cultivators, Limited. Sydney, for the year ended June 30 follows a loss of £17 995 the previous year. The loss Is shown after providing £11254 Jor depreciation, or £1986 more than In 1938-39 It Is proposed to transfer £5250 to a special share reserve to cover the deer-use In value of shares held In other companies. This makes the years deficit £21,575. which Increases the debit balance to £38.199. A call of 2/6 per share was made ou contributing shares during the year. ORIENT STEAM. ORDINARY DIVIDEND RESTORED. A net profit of £160.285 was shown by the Orient Steam Navigation Company, London which is affiliated to the P. and O. Steam NaviKitlion. for the year ended June 30. This compares with a loss of £12,547 in the previous year, and Is the best result since 1934-35. Ordinary dividend, which was omitted last year is restored to a rate of 5 per cent, free of United Kingdom income tax. and requires £52 044 Preference dividends of 6 per cent and 6'.i per ""* respectively require a further £82,260. and £65.946 Is carried forward against £19 965 Drought In.
