Hitler And Ribbentrop Study Mr. Roosevelt's Speech.

The Times" correspondent on the German frontier says Hitler and the German Foreign Minister, Ribbentrop, were almost continuously in conference after receiving the text of president Roosevelt's speech, studying its purport from every conceivable angle.
A Wilhelmstrasse spokesman told ioreign correspondents that a formal reply was possible. He added that Mr. hoosevolt's pronouncement was such a momentous challenge that Germany would have to reply, otherwise it would be tantamount to Hitler capitulating on iundamentals concerning which there could be no compromise.
The threatening note with which the spokesman warned the United States on December 22 is absent from the Wilhelmstrasse's latest semi-official statement. Sorrow and disappointment instead of anger are now the kevnote. . J
