VALUELESS CHEQUE.

WHANGAREI OFFENCE.

A grocer, William Marne Clark, aged 27, pleaded guilty in the Police Court to-dey before Mr. F. H. Levien, S.M., to obtaining en December 7 cigarettes valued at 6/9 and £4 13/3 in money by means of a valueless cheque. Detective Slater produced a statement made by accused in which he admitted he knew the cheque he tendered was valueless.

Detective-Sergeant Walsh said the present offence was one of a series committed by accused at Whangarei, and on which he had been dealt with by the Court on December 19 i>: en he was sentenced to two years' reformative detention.

On the charge on which he appeared this morning accueed was convicted end discharged.
