TOMATO PRICES EASE. GLUT OF VEGETABLES. The Auckland city markets were 'heavily supplied with tomatoes to-day, and many lines earning forward were too green. The market for this fruit has fallen rapidly, and poor lines were almost unsaleable. There was only a fair inquiry for peaches, and values for these fell. The market was exceptionally heavily supplied "with plums, and there was no sale for •poor lines, and very little demand for choice. A few hothouse grapes are coming forward, and prices have eased. There were fair supplies of strawberries, and values were easier Uian Christmas prices. There were a fe.v cherried available, and realised very Jiigh iprices. The market was ovet supplied with potatoes, green peas, beans, marrows, cucumlbers, selling at very low pricee. It was impossible to quit supplies. Prices were:—Asparagus, 5d to 1/ per bundle; beet, 1/ to 1/9 per dozen: carrots, 4/ to 7/ per bag, or 1/ to 2/6 per dozen; cauliflowers, 5/ to 8/ per sack: cabbages. 4/6 to 11/ per sack; cucumbers, 9d to 2/3 per dozen; French beans. 1/ to 2/ per bag; strlngless beans, 2/ to 4/6 per bag; green peas, 1/ to 4/ per bag; kumaras. Island. 4d per lb; lettuce, 1/ to 4/ per case: marrows, 1/ to 3/6 per dozen; onions, new season's. 4/ to 5/9 per bag; potatoes, new. No. 1. 1/6 to 2/9 per bag; No. 2, 6d to 1/; pumpkins, new season's, 3d to 4d per lb: parsnips. 1/ to 1/6 per dozen: radish. 1/ to 1/9 per dozen; rhubarb, 2/ to 4/ per dozen: spinach. 1/ to 1/6 per dozen; spring onions. 1/ to 1/6 per bundle; swedes, new season's, 3/6 to 5/ per bar; turnips, 1/ to 1/3 per dozen. BUTTER, EGGS, CUT FLOWERS. Eggs.—Hen: standard grade, l,'9',i per dozen. Duck: Standard grade, 1/& M. Farmers' Butter.—lod to 1/4 per lb. Cut Flowers.—There was a plentiful supply of flowers to hand to-day and as is usually the case at the close of the year prices were not high The main varieties on display were gladioli' gerberas and carnations. Although prices were low for practically all lines, a total clearance was euotted.
