Telegraph wires buzzed with the rush of traffic, and teleprinters worked faster to clear the messages before the office* closed to-night Although not as heavy as the Christmas rush, the business was all the Department expected, and augmented staffs were kept fully engaged. As if all messages had been timed to reach their destinations on New Year'e Eve the traffic was suddenly swelled yesterday afternoon and reached its height this morning. The heavy accumulation of cable messages had been overcome during the previous few days, and the post office was therefore in a good position to deal with the rush
