PRESERVED FRUIT.
METHOD WITHOUT SUGAR. "N.Z. WOMAN'S WEEKLY." "Eat what you can, can what you can't," is the slogan of housewive/ in countries where fruit is plentiful, and it is a particularly appropriate slogan for Xew Zealand women at the present season. No good housewife is going to stand toy and see home-grown or cheap fruit go begging. An excellent way of preserving fruit for winter use ie to bottle it, for bottling needs no special equipment and ie eaey to do. New methods of preserving fruit without sugar are described in this week's issue of the "N.Z. Woman's Weekly" and in addition a liet of suitable fruite and their correct preparation ie given. Summer is the time for cooling drinks and readers who are tired of the usual lemon drinks will welcome a number of new recipes that are sure to be great favourites when the temperature soars. Honey orangeade, gingered lemon drink, pineapple cup and ambrosia are only a few of the many delicious beverages that can V made from the recipes given in the current issue of the magazine. Now that sunny days are here and summer holidays are in \ full swing, many mother* are discovering that the youngest member of the family was forgotten when sun suite were being made. Directions are given for knitting a useful little romper suit with a email jacket that can be slipped on over the top when days get cooler. In addition there are the usual bright short stories, an interesting account of the activities of Lady Galway during her five years' stay in New Zealand, a page of war economy hints and the usual eix free patterns for readers to ehooee from.
