LABOURER'S LANGUAGE. PRISON FOR TWO WEEKS. "I don't remember using any obscene language or assaulting anvbodv, for it* a thing I never do," said .s'tephen Looney, a labourer of 42, to Mr J Morling, 8.M., in the Police Court "thi* morning. Cooney was charged with bcinjj drunk in Broadway, Newmarket, vestcrdav rnK S ,° t™?-*,, lan » ua S c . a »d assaulting Oiloert Tootill, a tramway inspector. It was shown in evidence that Cooney while a passenger on an Onehungabound tram proceeding down Khvber „ ,!\ oa<l ' yesterday afternoon, 'was Ml. The conductor requested him to leave the car, but instead of doing .so Cooney need obscene language in a verv loud voice. When the inspector spoke to him id Newmarket and advised him to go home, Cooney, it was alleged struck the inspector twice on the chest with his clenched fist. Cooney admitted that he was ill in the tram, but said he did not remember Jismg obscene language or strikiny the inspector. "Your list shows that you have been in quite a bit of trouble before." said the magistrate, in sentencing Cooney to two weeks' imprisonment for u"iin<* obscene language.
