Now It's Hatpins For Your Pompadour.
(By SHEILAH GRAHAM.)
Mary Boland has eeveral good ideas on what the well dressed matron should wear. Here's one of them, demonstrating the charm of summer furs. Of beige wool broadcloth, the dress is coatstyle, with invisible hook-closing front. To give a slender effect, a four-inch girdle is inserted across the back and hmcslies at the sides—leaving a long, unbroken line in front. The lavish lynx fur trimming gives further slenderising lines to the ensemble, and the long cut is especially good to break down anv expanse of bodice. The wide shoulder effect makes hips appear smaller. With the outfit Miss Boland wears a brown wool draped turban, shot through with a brown quill, beige and alligator shoes, brown suede bag—and beige suede gloves. Her bracelet, clip and earrings aer of gokl And there i 8 a three-strand pearl necklace.
Bomta Gramille has what she calls a bustle bag. Fashioned in black antelope, the bag itself is envelope style with z.pper fastening. Th« bustle idea »s earned out by draped folds of the antelope, caught into a jewelled clip Ann Rutherford goes hobo with a red and white checked stick carried over her nSii n€ek,ae€ alternates wood and metal squares.

There ie also a white silk, man-tailored blouse, and an overseas cap fashioned from the regular uniformed hats worn by aviatrixes, but trimmed with a white band.
Olivia de Havilland does not like the ""new "straight and narrow" silhouette, and continues to buy clothes with flares and big pockets. She recently purchased a flared coat in beige cloth with huge pockets of black seal, a little round collar of the fur, and infinitesimal cuffs of the same. A brimmed skull cap is also sealskin.
A brown-eyed daisy with diamond petals and a ttopaz "eye," and a ring made of two tiny matching daisies is a bright touch on a gown Rosemary Lane wears.
Ann Morris' new two-piece ensemble is in two-toned green. The two shades are usually in one-piece dresses, bult this outfit has tflie dress in olive green and the redmgote in Kelly green. The dress, draped at the neckline, has tight-fitting waistline and pleated skirt. There is a
four-inch leather belt, the coat has threequarter sleeves, exaggerated shoulder lines, flares out at the bottom, and has a tricky neckline with a swirling effect that buttons ait the right shoulder. Completing her outfit, Ann wears a brown felt off-tlve-faoe hat and matching alligator shoes and square bag. Brenda Marshall wears the same hat twice in 'her new film. Leah Barnes, the miliiner, just made two sets of furtipped hat pins, one with leopard, the other with globes of jet with silver fox —and the same hat seemed like two. This is nice for girls who must watch their budgets, if they have some furs lying around. • Barbara Stanwyck was glimpsed recently, wearing a gown in salmon and silver brocade. Small gold and silver beads arc embroidered around the neckline and waist. Ida Lupino, at the El Capitan Theatre, wore a sheath-like gown of silver chiffon with knife-pleated skirt and apron front. The bodice, a solid mass of sparkling grey-pink sequins aiid many-faceted diamond crystals. Ida's pompadour decorated with two tiny silver hat pins headed with crystals. Her wrap, a silver fox shawl with pockets.
