100 TH BIRTHDAY.
MASTERTON RESIDENT.
Mr. Michael Gronkowski. of Masterton. who recently celebrated his IOOtU birthday, is the father of Mrs. P. McDonald, Mt. Eden, and Mr. Thomas Gron. kowski. Auckland. He has resided in the \\airaiapa for the past ->S years. Mr. Gronkowski was born in Poland in IS-10. and in 1573 married Katherine Miller. In issp. with his wife and thee children, he mailed for England. lea> ing a few weeks later on Victory 11. for Now Zealand. He arrived at Wellington the same year, and took up a smail farm at Carterton, where he remained for 4years. On the death of bis wife 1"> years ago, he went to live with hi> daughter. Mrs. Price, at Masterton, where he now resides. At the birthday party relauxcs from all parts of the Dominion attended, the large cake being cut by the guc-t of honour. Mr. Gronkowski was the recipient of many congratulatory me> sages, which included congratulations from His Majesty the King. Ix>rd and I.ady Oalway. Archbishop O'Shea, tlu Hon. P. Eraser and Mr. Robertson. M.P. for Masterton. Other members of hit family are Mrs. R. Ba™2t\ t arterton, and Mr~. I*. Price. Masterton. There are grandchildren and gi cat-grand-children.
