TE AWAMUTU CUP.

BEAU LEON SECOND.

SUCCESS OF KINVARA.

The weather was fine though threatening when the Waipa Racing Club's meeting opened to-day. The track was then in good order, and the attendance large.

In the opening event, the \V. G. Park Hurdles, Lapidarian, who showed promise of an early return to form, won easily at the finish. He was always ope of the leaders, but High Star led him into the straight. However, "High Star made a faulty jump at the last hurdle, and Lapidarian went on to win. Kaiwaka,. who was third, showed his best form sinc-e the Grand National meeting. Bachelor King, the favourite, looked likely crossing the top, but failed to sustain his run. Pacing the stand the first time Archeo was leading High Star, Lapidarian, Bachelor King, Kaiwaka and General Riske, but along the back Lapidarian was the leader, with little alteration in the position of the others. High Star headed Lapidarian before reaching the home tnrn and led into the straight, where Kaiwaka was third about live lengths away, and was followed by Bachelor King, General Eiske and X'e Mouatekapa. High Star made a bad juui-p at the last fence, aud Lapidarian went oil tQ beat him. by three lengths,- Kaiwaka was * neck awai" and was followed by General--Ruse, General Riske, Bachelor King and Te Monatekapa, Kara topi Easily. To-day he ran away from the opposition to score easily. Mayfair tried to lead all the way but weakened at the end. Ngawiri ran her best race for a long time, but the favourite, Radiant Vaals, was slow away, and though he made a forward move at one he did not keep up his run. Tea = Drup. Mayfair and Karatoki were first to show out. Mayfair led across the top and into the straight from Xgawiri, Runanga, Tea Drop, Karatoki and Kadiant Yaals (wide out). In the straight Karatoki came through and won going awav bv three lengths from Xgawiri with Slayfair a head away. Surpai was fourth followed by Loch Acre, Star Yaal. Runanga and Tea Drop.
