INTEREST AROUSED.
GILBERT AND SULLIVAN.
Considerable interest lias been aroused over the forthcoming appearance of ,T. 0. Williamsons latest Gilbert and Sullivan Comic Opera Company, which is to begin a season at His Majesty's Theatre on Monday. December 30. with a. presentation of "1 he Gondoliers, 1 ' which is to be staged for four nitrhts only. This will be followed by "lhe Pirates of Penzance/' the "Yeoman of the Guard," "lolanthe," "The Mikado" and "H.M.S. Pinafore."
The company includes a number of London artists who will be making their first appearance in New Zealand, including Miss A' iola Wilson, a soprano who has sung in grand opera at Covcnt Garden Theatre, and John Fullard. a noted English tenor. Artists who have previously appeared successfully in New Zealand are Ivan Menzies. Evelyn Gardiner, Grejrory Stroud. Richard Watson and Vincent McMurray.
It is over r>o years since "The Gondoliers" was first produced, and in that tim«* its delights have not varied in the slightest. A successful season at His Majesty's is confidently expected.
