DOMINION RD'S. FINE EFFORT
With a splendid donation of £sfi fund leaping over the second cer the £300 mark. Further Scout 1 that the £300 mark would be r and To-day's if t by the pupils of the Dominion Road School brings their total for this campaign to a figure in excess of £100 a magnificent achievement over a period of less than three months. This time it is the result of a fair; before that there was a fancy dress parly and a picture benefit nip;ht ; their initial gift followed on a Cuy Fawkes Day self-denial collection. Backed by a strong committee of adults, the pupils of this school are providing a particularly fine example of team work. The school is less than 500 roll strength, and the area from which lh»y draw their support is comparatively small. But by all pulling toi'ftlv i in a common cause they are achieving record results. Before war broke out they outfitted their own sr hoil with radio receiving and loud speaker apparatus; they built their own dental clinic, and pioneered the new type of miniature swimming pool all by community effort and a spirit of self-help. Soon after the outbreak of war they decided that others should now reap the benefit of their work, and adopted the Provincial Patriotic Fund as their special avenue for service. Truly this school is building up in its young people a fine spirit of service to others; certainly the results of their work will bring considerable pleasure and happiness to an everwidening circle of men and women whose lives have been directly affected as a result of the war. One pound comes to us this week from the primary department of the Ncjatea D.H.S. This is as a result of concerts held by the dramatic club associated with the primary department. It will be remembered that the secondary department sent us a donation some weeks ago. Ten more scout groups figure in this week's list of acknowledgments to bring Scout Week total to over 112, and cur sincere thanks go to these scouts and cubs. Some of these groups have sent in amounts which entitle -» -t—
