Pictures will not be screened in Wellington on Christmas Night. The City Council decided last flight not to reconsider its previous decision not to grant permits. A request that the position be reviewed was received from Theatre Management. Limited, on behalf of city theatre proprietors. The Mayor, Mr. T. C. A. Hislop, said it seemed to be clear there were sufticient volunteers to carrv 011 front-ot-house work that night. ' His view was the first consideration was the public, and if the public wanted to «o to the pictures on Christmas Night he did not see any reason why they 'should 1)® barred from going. The Auckland City Council has given permission for the screening of pictures on Christmas Night.
