"CHEERIO!"
GREAT TO GET IT.
FIRST ECHELON MAN'S GRATITUDE.
"It was great—-gave me quite a "kick' —to get the 'Eight o'Clock' with my 'Cheerio!' iu it. The paper was waiting for me when 1 got fcack from a spell in Alexandria. I passed it round among the chaps. Xo one else in the unit had received one. but I have seen a number being read round about, in other units," writes C'orjtoral Ashley Garnett, Divisional Cavalry, First Echelon, a Cambridge man, in an air mail letter received yesterday. "This 'Cheerio' idea is jolly pood—you call send me another one, any time von like.'" he adds.
Corporal Garnett's "Cheerio!" was included in the first page of greetings, when the "Eight o'clock's" friendly service was inaugurated. At that time the "Diggers' Xews Summary," an epitome of the news of the week, was not included, which explains why he does not mention it.
A '"Cheerio!" so much appreciated, as the corporal's letter goes to show, costs only half a crown for a message of 15 words, name and address not being included. Longer messages cost Od ffcr each five words extra. The "Star" sends a copy of the "Eight o'QJoek,"' post paid, to each soldier, sailor, or airman addressed.
Bring or send your "Cheerio!" to the "Star" Office, or district agent, before 9 p.m. to-morrow, and it will be included in Saturday night's spread of salutations. Your boy would like one!
