SECOND BALLOT MEN FITTER.

A lower percentage of permanently unfit men is revealed in the latest statistics of second ballot reservists appearing before medical boards in Auckland. The total examined to date is 3511, of whom 1684 have 'been passed fit, 137H temporarily unfit and 4.">1 permanently unfit.

On a percentage basis the Auckland returns compare well with those of other centres. In Wellington, for instance, fit men constituted 4ti.fi per cent of the total examined up to Monday, temporarily unfit 23.(5 per cent and permanently unfit 2!).8 per cent. The comparative Auckland figures are .">O.-1 per cent fit, 36 per cent temporarily unfit and only 13.5 per cent permanently unfit.
