WORKS IMPRESSIVELY.

TRIALS AT TAKANINL

There was not a great deal doing at Takanini this morning, though there were some interesting gallops by candidates for the Whangarei meeting next week. The poles were out 10ft from the rails and the going was excellent. The best efforts were recorded by Xamara, The Dozer, Surpai and Dinky Di.

The Dozer (Duncan) and Surpai (Parsons) ivei'i! together at the end 01 six furlongs in 1.18 2-ss. both working well. Xaniara (Beguely) was going much better than Hifih Sea (McMinn) at the end of a solidly-run seven furlongs, which took 1.28 S-.w, the first three taking 3(5 3-.35, and the first half-mile r>2s. Miss Gay (I'etliy) ran the ]ast three of four furlongs in dashinjr style in 375. Dinki Di (lleijuely) _ worked impressively, while defeating Xoitaro f Parsons I over five furlongs in 1.2. Dinki Di gave the impression that he could have done better. Court Favourite (Kcrrall) was better than Ascot Bloom (Parsons) at the finish of six furlongs in 1.16 3-.'>.
