PETROL RESTRICTIONS.
Like L. A. Tozer I. too, listened to Walter Nash in Auckland, and I can assure him he is not alone in inferring that the Minister took refuge in jingoistic political platitudes, appealing in heartrending rhetoric to sentimentality in its worst form. The Government asks the public to use the train, while Ministers stick to Government motor cars. The figure* of petrol used in Government vehicles at the Auckland public works depot in Stanley Street alone would surprise private and commercial car users—if only they knew them. But we motorists have not given up hope entirely. Odds are about five to one in favour of the chances that in nine months' time either rations will be about doubled or restrictions wiil be lifted altogether. You see, the Government will not have forgotten that next Tear is election vear. We haven't either. LEST WE FORGET.
