(United Press Association.—Copyright.— Keod. 11.30 *.m.)
LONDON. October 7. The Bucharest correspondent of the British United Press states that between four and five train loads of German motorised forces and air force units have arrived in Rumania in the past 26 hours, following an official Rumanian claim to possess positive proof that British oil company employees have engaged in plots to sabotage the oilfields. Government officials in Berlin denied that troops had entered Rumania, but the Rumanian Legation in Berlin confirmed that German troops entered Rumania in accordance with the agreement for training and reorganising the Rumanian Army with all equipment essential for modern warfare. A number of Italian troops, it is stated, are also going to Rumania. Well-informed quarters in Bucharest state that additional German units are due to arrive to-day and to-morrow by air. German and Italian headquarters in Bucharest emphasise that there is no question of occupation of Rumania. It is understood German troops have established bases at the oilfields between Ploesci and Port Giugiu, on the Danube. An expeditionary corps has already been established in Bucharest and made contact with the Rumanian General Staff. It is believed that three German divisions may enter Rumania eventually. No confirmation of the reported new German move has been received in official quarters in London, says the British official wireless, but in view of the history of aggression in the past 12 months the reports are by no means discredited. Meanwhile inquiries are being made at Bucharest. When 60,000 Green Shirts and 20.000 peasants in national and regional costume, says a Bucharest message, demonstrated in the public square. General Antonescu. Rumanian Prime Minister, declared September 6 (when Carol abdicated) to have been a day of salvation for Rumanian rights in commemoration of which the name of the square will be September Sixth Square. Italian, German and Japanese Ministers were present.
