The areas mainly affected were 5 Fendalton and New Brighton. t A woman living in Fendalton posted a cheque for rent to her landlord on s Saturday. Thi§ morning ehe noticed s that a letter-box at the corner of Holm- s wood Road and Roesall Street had been tampered with. She immediately tele- [ phoned her landlord and asked whether * he had received the cheque. When he i eaid he had not and learned that she t had poeted it, he telephoned to the bank on which the cheque was drawn, a explaining the circumstances. c Bank officials, with a post office s inquiry officer, waited for the cheque to be presented.
