PETROL RATIONING.
• A MATTER OF FINANCE. i MOTOR TRADE OPINION. WELLINGTON, this day. The opinion that the question of the rationing of petrol in New Zealand was solely concerned with finance was expressed by Mr. C. Edmond, president of the New Zealand Motor Trade Federation, who issued a statement to-day replying to the contention made in the House of Representatives on Friday by Mr. E. P. Meachen that rationing was necessitated through conditions arising from the war. Mr. Edmond states that if Mr. Meachen pursued the matter of petrol for use for aeroplanes in New Zealand, he would find it had no vital bearing on the rationing of petrol, and he add" that the Motor Trade Federation would be the last to suggest that any action should be taken that would in any way restrict the training of our Air Force. —(Press Assn.)
