STRAWBERRY PRICES HIGH.
NEW POTATOES PLENTIFUL,
At the City Markets to-day there was a fair inquiry for apples and a good demand for Winter Cole pears. Hothouse tomatoes sold well, and there was about the average demand for tree tomatoes. Small quantities of strawberries came forward and values were high. Good supplies of cabbages and cauliflowers were available, and best quality lines -brought fair rates. New potatoes were in very heavy supply, with prices very low for so early in the season. Good quantities of green peas were on the ■market, with quality lines realising good values. Small consignments of hothouse beans brought liigh prices. Broad beans were in fair supply, with good prices being obtained for beet quality. Heavy consignments of Ohakune potatoes were sold at fair rates. Good quantities of pumpkins came forward to-day, and quality lines brought good prices. Carrots were in good euipply, with prices ruling I low. Good supplies of swedes sold at recent rates, and onions, which were also in good eupply, realised 'high prices. Fair quantities of kumarae were on the market, I with prices very high. Aeparapue coneißnmente were heavy, with good lines selling !well. The season was almost finished ior i celery, most lines having gone to seed.* [Heavy supplies of rhubarb sold at recent rates, and good quantities of hothouse cucumbers sold at hieh prices. Prices were:—Apples: Granny Smith. 9/ to 10/6 I per case: Delicious, 8/ to 11/: Sturmer. 7/6 to 10/: I Tasma, 10' to 11/6: Rome Beauty. 8/6 to 10/6. i Pears: Winter Cole. 17/ to 21/ per case. I Tomatoes: Hothouse, 1/9 to 2 5 per lb. Orances: I Australian. 19<3 to 27/ per case. Bananas: I Repacked, ripe. 20'8 to 27' per case. Tree tomp.toes: New Black. 9/ to 12/ per case: No. 2, 6/ to 8': Yellow, 6/ to 9/: No. 2. 4/ to hi. Marmalade oranges: 6/ to 7/6 per case. Grapefruit: New Zealand. 8/ to 11/ per case: small 5/ to 66. Lemons: 8/ to 17 6 per three-quarter bushel case, accordlns to erade and count. VEGETABLES.
