STOLE HANDCUFFS.
GAOL FOR OFFENDER.
CHRISTCHURCH, this day
For stealing a pair of handcuffs from a policeman's bedroom, Stevens Francis Llewellyn Neary, aged 41, was sent to gaol for a month, when he appeared in the Police Court to-day.
According to the police Neary was released from the Paparua Prison on Saturday, and arrived at Lyttelton in a drunken condition. He was sent away from the inter-Island steamer wharf on account of his condition, and made his way to the Sailors' Home, where he had previously stayed. He was unlucky, however, for the Sailors' Home is now a naval and police barracks. Although evicted once he went back and stole the handcuffs from a constable's bedroom. Later lie was arrested for drunkenness and the handcuffs were found among his possessions. His explanation was that he bought the'M from a Norgewian sailor. Afi6nJ
