KIDNAPPED BRITON.
Rumania Promises Trials In Court. '(Reed. 11 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 4. The Rumanian police have advised the British Legation at Bucharest that the missing oil company official, Mr. Alexander Millar, has been located. He is detained at local police headquarters.
British Legation officials after seeing Mr. Millar stated that he had been subjected to the third degree. He had been beaten during the 48 hours in which he was held by his kidnappers.
It is officially stated in Bucharest that the arrested Britons will be tried in Court.
The disappearance of Mr. Millar was considered possibly connected with unexploited oil deposits, of which he had the secret details.
The Berlin radio stated that the Rumanian Foreign Minister, M. Sturdza, had rejected the protest against the arrests. The British Legation denied this versiow of the Minister's communication.
.... The Legation has announced that another British subject, Mr. Percy Clark, who is president of an engineering firm at Ploesti, was kidnapped by three men who tricked him into leaving his hotel in the centre of Bucharest.
The Bucharest correspondent of "The Times" says thugs at the frontiers are bullying depart jug Britons. The strongest possible pressure from Britain is necessary to meet the situation, which is still deteriorating.
Professor Esk, a French journalist, is reported to have been arrested for complicity in a British sabotage plot.
A British official wireless message says that while it is recognised that the bri-.cal hooliganism, of which Mr. Miller and Mr.' Clark are the latest victims, owes its origin to German elements, indignation here is acute, and it is felt that the Rumanian Government cannot escape responsibility fat this uncivilised conduct.
