It is officially announced that the King has approved the appointment of Air Chief Marshal Sir Cyril Xcwall, G.C.8., C.M.G., C.8.E., Chief or the Air Staff, to be Governor-General of New Zealand in succession to Co onel the Right Honourable Viscount Gal way, P.C.. G.C.M.G., D.5.0.. 0.8.E.. whc*e term of ollice will expire in February, 1941.
His Majesty has aUo approved the promotion of Air Chief Marsha] Sir Cyril JCewall to !k> Marshal of the Royal Air Forcc.
The present Governor-General of Xcw Zealand. Viscount Galwav, took up office on April 12. 193.>, replacing Lord Bledisloe. His Excellency was accompanied by Viscountess Galway, liis son, the Hon. Simon Monckton-Arundell, and three daughters, the Hons. Mary, Celia and Isabel Moncktou.
With considerable military and farming experience his Excellency had a wide .variety of interests and with his family took part in many sporting activities. In January of this year, as a result of the war his term as Governor-General was extended for six months, and in April His Majesty the King approved a further extension until February. 1941. —(Press Assn.)
