The first sea-trading steamer in the world was the Rob Roy, built at Glasgow in 1918. Other early steamer* were the Clermont, built in Xew York; the Charlotte Dundas, built on the Clyde: Argylc, Phoenix. Comet, Royal William, •nd m, Dutch steamer, the Curacao.
