— After having resided in New Zea- ! land for 89 years, Mr. George Gee has I celebrated his 99th birthday. Mr. Gee l was toorn in London and is a Freeman ! <>f the city, having inherited it from 1 his father upon whom it was conferred i in 1841. He was in business in the ! South Island for many years, but came !• to Auckland in 1881. In 1862 he I married Miss Elizabeth Ann Wood, who j died in 1919, Mr.- Gee is in the best of ! health but Jiw sight and hearing are I impaired.
