VOLUNTEERS CALLED UP.
"EVERY CARE EXERCISED."
WELLINGTON, this day.
The Minister of National Service, Mr. Semple,. was asked' .in the House dfj Representatives thie morning by Mr. Gordon (National, Rangitikei) whether he was aware that volunteers already serving in the Territorial Force had been called up in the first ballot. He desired to know whether tie Minister would take the necessary stepe to ensure that those already serving as volunteer members in the Territorial Force were not included in future iballote.
"Although extreme care was exercised by both the Army and National Service Department to ensure that a complete roll of all serving territorials was compiled and their names removed from the ballot, it is regrettable that a few errors were unavoidable," said the Minister. "In work of this magnitude it ie not unreasonable to expect a percentage of error, but, having regard to all the circumstances, I am satisfied that every care was .exercised by my Department, and the same will be done' In respect to all future ballots."—(Parliamentary* Reporter.) • V
