Some small legacies appear in the will of the late Mr. Edward Swann, retired hotelkeeper, of Takapuiia, who died on May 16, leaving an estate valued at about £10,000. The testator directed that the sum of £10 should be paid to the Whangarei Public Hospital for the purpose of purchasing Roman Catholic literature for use by Roman Catholic patients. He rurther left a sum of £10 for the Roman Catholic Orphanage for Boys at Takapuna, and a eum of £23 to be paid to the Roman Catholic priest for the time being in charge of the parish of Takapuna for use in religious and charitable purposes.
