VALUELESS CHEQUE.
SUM OF £6 OBTAINED.
PROBATION FOR YOUNG MAN.
'Tit is with some reluctance that I am admitting you to probation for twelve months, because there was no necessity for you to steal," said Mr. J. Morling, S.M., in the Poliee Court to-day, to Leslie Bianchi, porter and barman, aged 23, who pleaded guilty to a charge of obtaining £0 by means of a valueless cheque, at Stratford on August 17.
Detective-Sergeant Nalder said this was Bianchi's first offence. Before he left his job on a farm near Stratford, Bianchi took a blank cheque form from his employer's book, filled it in for £6, and after signing his employer's name, caalied it at a Stratford hotel and was paid £6. He later came to Auckland where he was at present employed at a city hotel. Bianchi was a good worker. As well aa placing him on probation, thi magistrate ordered Bianchi to make restitution of £6.
