HOSPITAL SUPPLIES.
RESERVE SUGGESTED.
ADVICE TO COOK BOARD. GISBORNE, this day. The Director-General of Health, Dr. M. H. Watt, during a visit to Gisborne, inspected suitable sites for an emergency hospital. According to a report to the Cook Hospital Board, the intermediate school could accommodate 200 beds and the high school had accommodation for 300. The racecourse at Makaraka had good facilities in certain respecte. On the subject of equipment, Dr. Watt said the board was responsible for providing beds and bedding and all necessary equipment. He urged that the board should equip to the maximum capacity of the hospital and carry surplus supplies in addition to its normal requirements. He recommended that a 12 months' reserve supply of all main essentials be carried. Dr. Watt afeo urged the necessity for further developing the out-patient and specialist services. He considered that the enlarged administrative block should be proceeded with, and that the X-ray department, laboratory and relative, services should be developed and increased. Consultations demanded adequate facilities.
The board was advised by the Public Trustee of a £500 bequest under the will of Mr. J. H, Bushnell to provide additional comforts for inmates of the Memorial Home.
