MINERS AT HUNTLY.

DECISION AT MEETING.

PRACTICALLY UNANIMOUS.

HUNTLY, this day.

As a result of intervention by Mr. C. L. Hunter, liaison officer of the Department of Labour, the dispute at the McDonald and Glen Afton collieries, involving nearly 400 men, has been settled, and work will be resumed on Monday.

This morning a special meeting of the members of the McDonald and Glen Afton branches of the union was held at the Lyceum Theatre. There was an attendance of about 250 miners, who were addressed by Mr. Hunter. The meeting lasted about two hours, and a decision was reached, practically unanimously, that all miners should resume work on Monday morning.

A feature of the meeting was the good hearing which Mr. Hunter received.

A further decision was made, that matter* in dispute should be referred, .is early as possible, to the national disputes committee. Yesterday Mr. Htintor conferred with representatives of the union nnd tho management of the collieries, lie then had a discussion with the executive of the local union.
