TRAINING AT TE EAPA. HAMILTON", Friday. Empire Guinea champion and recordholder over the half-mile, V. P. Hoot, of Canterbury, is now in camp at Te Itap.i racccoursc. Xew Zealand's foremost middle-distance runner before war broke out, he is now a second-lieutenant in the headquarters company of the 29th Infantry Battalion. Secor.d-Lieutenant Boot finds the racceoursc ail excellent training ground, and several other soldiers under canvas at. 1c Eapa have joined him in an oce.i--moiiol trial run. A eaiup athletic meeting was held on Wednesday, Boot being easily tho most prominent performer. Keen competition prevailed among the various conijvimes at tlie meeting.
