FEWER RACING DAYS.

A loss for the year of £1070, of which £437 was incurred ou three race meetings, was revealed by .the Poverty Bay Turf Club's annual report, which states that increased difficulties faced the club at each successive fixture, due to changed conditions and petrol restrictions.
The club was unfortunate in that the district had no railway connection with outside centres, and other means of transport were restricted, j The financial position of the club was far Irom j satisfactory, and the committee hbo. been, authorised to enter into negotiations, which, u completed, will mean a reduction in the number of racing days in future years from bix to lour as against a loss on two racing days* The present liabilities of the club would be liquidated, and when railway connection was established improved results could be expected. The Turf Club s spring meeting will be held on a Saturday for the first time. The Centennial fixture will take place on October 26 and the patriotic meeting on November 2. All the proceeds of the latter will be devoted to patriotic purposes, and owners will be offered lower stakes than for an ordinary fixture. On Labour Day, October 28. the Poverty Bay Hunt Club s races will be held.
