JUTE GOODS.
SUPPLIES FOR N.Z. ARRANGEMENT WITH BRITAIN. WELLINGTON, this day. According to a statement by the Minister of Supply, the Hon. D. G. Sullivan, shipping arrangements have been made with the United Kingdom Government to.supply New Zealand with jute and liessian goods required for both primary and secondary production within the. Dominion. A vessel is scheduled to arrive in. New Zealand prior to the wheat harvest. The Minister draws the attention of the importers of jute goods to the fact that there is virtually no possibility of the usual March and April steamers being available for direct shipments to New Zealand in 1941. As a result of the negotiations with Britain, it has been agreed that two direct shipments from Calcutta will be suflicie.ilt to suppU New Zealand's anriual requirements. The vessels will, it is anticipated, leave about the middle and end of next year. The Minister also urges manufacturers and others to utilise secondhand sacks to the greatest degree possible.— (Press Assn.)
