GLASSWORKERS' WAGES. / *" • % ■ NEW AGREEMENT SIGNED. The agreement effected under the Labour Disputes Investigation Act, 1913, was. achieved after a two days' conference- between representatives of the New' Zealand Glass Manufacturers Company, Proprietary, limited, and representatives of tbe Glassworkers' Union. Mr.;C. L." Hunter acted as chairman for the;.eonferenc9,i \ %Wage increases range froh 1/ to 12/4 for adult workers and average l/tf over all classifications foryouths. This is in addition to the recent 5 per cent increase. Wage -rates are as follows:—Operators, £4 18/ per week; operators' assistants, '£4 15/; sorters, £5 4/6; firemen, £5 4/6; operators in charge of single-facer and double-backer cardboard machines, £5 5/; operator* of rotary choppers, rotary scorer and slit-' ters, and rotary container machines, £5 2/6; yard haiids, packers, and ai! other workers, £5. Dirt money at the rate of 1/ per day shall be paid to all workers handling soda ash in bags. Youths' wages range from £i 2/6 for youths under 16 years to £3 2/0 for youths up to 21 years.
