SOLDIER'S SUICIDE. DISCOVERT MADE BY FATHER. A verdirt that death vif due t*» gunshot wounds, self-inflicted. *u returned by the coroner. >Ir. F. K. Hunt, a* the inquest concluded to-day into the death of Edmund Stanley Hartaeady, soldier and motor driver, who «u found dead under his father house in Second Avenue. Kinjr>l«od. on August 29. Deceased a single man. aped 38. aad a member of the Third Echelon. Alongside the body was a double-harrelled shotgun containing a discharged cartridge shell, and the deceased's head showed many shot wounds. Frank Patrick Hartncady. the father, said his son came home from Papakura. camp on leave on Saturday, August 24. but did not return to camp and later «cemed to be worried. On the following Thursday afternoon witness found the following note in his handwriting:— "29/S/40. 2 p.m. —Happy nom\ IT! bo the best off now. I hare been led astray by others. Cheerio. Bury me with mum. —Eddie. My bank book is at Roy's, Money in Australia and England also. Hope everyone is pleased now. Thev can have the lot. v Witness »aid that after finding the note he searched under the house and found the bodv.
