FOLK DANCING.
CHILDREN TAKE PART. DRESS AND MARCHING. Nearly 300 children took part in folk dancing and marching at a highly successful fancy die.-* dance held in the Teachers' Training College Hall last night iu aid of the funds of the Kpsom District School. Dressed in gay and fanciful costumes of all kinds, the children formed a kaleidoscope of colour and movement a« they wove the pattern of their dances to the accompaniment of the music. The senior dancing and marching was arranged chiefly by Mies M. Tarry while Mies L. G. Barker, assisted by the staff, was in charge of the infant work. The smoothness and ease with which the entire programme was carried out was a tribute to the work of the headmaster and staff. An impressive conclusion to the senior grand march was the singing by the whole school of "There's Always Be An England," Miss A. Aburn playing the piano accompaniment and also the accompaniment for the folk dances. Music was also provided by Mr. C. L. Gillies and Mr. J. J. Carroll, while Mr. H. Tidmarsli was in charge of the floor arrangements. The headmaster, Mr. T. N. Hewlett, thanked the parents for their splendid response to the children's performance. Members of the school committee present were:—Mrs. E. McNair (chairman), Mrs. W. McCallum, Messrs. C. P. Nutsford, L. Pilcher, F. Baker, J. B. In wood, P. J. Pring, J. A. Pickett and J. Hobbs. The householders' committee which served supper to the children comprised:—Mrs. E. M. Driver (chairman), Mils. K. Stilwell, Mrs. T. N". Hewlett, Mrs. H. E. Jordan, Mrs. C. N. Nicholls, Mrs. B. Beavis, Mrs. B. Smith, and the wives- of the school committee members.
