CAMBRIDGE PROTEST.
FIVE PER CENT INCREASE. POWER BOARD'S VIEWS. CAMBRIDGE, this day. A protest at the 5 per cent increase in award -wage* bein? given to persons receiving £0 a week or more was voiced at the monthly meeting of the Cambridge Power Board. Copies of the protest arc to be sent to the Prime Minister, the Hon. W. Xaah, and the Power Boards' Association. The board considered the 5 per cent increase was to offset tlie 1/ in the £ national security tax, which any person receiving £0 a week or more should be able to pay. It was stated by the chairman. Mr. M. Wells, that in the three months' prior to the 5 per cent increase, 23 awards had been made giving shorter hours or advances in wages, and. in sonic cases. both. The secretary-manager stated that the increase would cost the board JCI3S a vcar.
