PAPAKURA CAMP.
EQUIPPING OF ROOMS,
The first meeting of the women's subcommittee, which hae now become the executive, of the Papakura Hostess House, which is in the process of being furnished, was held at Papakura yesterday. The chairman, Mrs. W. R. Wilson,, presided. A house committee, which is to be responsible to the executive, was appointed. The members of this committee are to supervise all details of the administration at the house and they will appoint conveners of various circles, such as gardening, afternoon tea, etc.
Mrs. F. Gunn was appointed matron at the house, and all applications for residence will be made to her. Sleeping accommodation will be provided for 18 guests and preference will be given in the order of wives, mother*, fiancees and sisters of the men in camp. The maximum time any guest may stay at the house will be one week.
It was announced at the meeting that all the beds and bedding for the house had been donated. A group of girls and women headed by Mrs. Melville, Mrs. V. Dunne and Miss Joan Rattray have made themselves responsible for the further equipping of the bedrooms.
China, cutlery and kitchen utensils are still needed, and the committee would be glad to receive gifts of this nature. On Sunday afternoon the house will be open to the soldiers and their friends and afternoon tea will be served. Miss Elsie .Bennet was appointed secretary for the executive. The house committee comprises:— Chairman, Mrs. H. C. Baulf; secretary and treasurer, Mrs. E. Busing; committee, Mrs. P. Webb, Mrs. Mark wick, Mrs. R. East, Mrs. V. Cartwright, Mrs. R. H. Clarke, Mrs. A. Donald, Mrs. F. Sutton, Mrs. A. M. Beams. Five other women from Papakura are to be appointed to the committee.
